Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have a combined airline loyalty program called Atmos Rewards. Since 2025, this has replaced their individual loyalty programs. Not only can you find low award rates for shorter, economy flights on Alaska Airlines, you can also book partner flights on American Airlines – for great award rates + low taxes!
Booking Award Flights on Alaska Airlines
When you head to the Atmos Rewards website, and try to book an award flight, you’ll see both airlines come up:

For the purpose of this blog post, I’ll be referring to, and using Alaska Airlines. Once you select Alaska Airlines, you’ll select “redeem points” to book an award flight.
Award rates + taxes
You can find award rates starting at just 4,500 points, one way, for shorter routes on Alaska Airlines. This chart shows rates for flights within North America, flying solely on Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines.

I’ve been loving booking partner flights, such as those on American Airlines, through Atmos Rewards.
You can find award rates starting at just 7,500 points, one way!

As someone who lives in an American Airlines hub, I try to fly the airline whenever I can.
This was a one way flight I booked for December of 2025, when we visited southern Spain, for the five of us. I used Atmos Rewards points to position us to New York, and then from New York, we flew to Madrid:

It cost me 7,500 points + $18.10 in taxes, per person, one way.
Earning Atmos Rewards
You can earn Atmos points through these cards:
There are different companion benefits offered on some of the cards.
- Atmos Rewards Ascent and Business cards offer a $99 Companion Fare, plus taxes and fees, for eligible, paid travel within North America. New cardholders earn the Companion fare once the minimum spend has been met. Going forward, you must make $6,000 in purchases each card anniversary year to receive another Companion Fare.
- New Summit cardholders earn their first Global 25k Companion Award after completing the minimum spend. Afterwards, they receive another Global 25k Companion Award after each account anniversary, with no annual spending requirement.
The main way to earn Atmos rewards is through their co-branded cards listed above, as Bilt Rewards is Atmos’ only direct bank transfer partner. Points transfer at a 1:1 ratio.
Points Pooling
As a Summit cardholder, you get access to “Points Sharing.” This allows the primary cardholder to create a sharing network with up to ten additional Atmos members. This allows you transfer redeemable points back and forth, at no additional cost.
Stopover Program
Alaska Airlines allows one free stopover per-one way ticket, and a round-trip ticket gets two stopovers. This means that you can add two cities to your trip, for the same points price as a ticket with no stopovers. Make sure to choose the “multi-city” option when searching award flights.
Note: While points prices stay the same, taxes and fees may vary depending upon the cities you’re flying in, and out of. Partner award bookings are subject to a nonrefundable $20/per person, each way. For Atmos Summitt cardholders, the partner award fee is waived.
Global 25k Companion Award
Summit cardholders receive a Global 25k Companion Award after meeting the new cardmember spend requirement. You’ll find any awards you have, in your Atmos Rewards account, under “discounts and companion fares.”

At the time of writing, I have applied mine so it’s not showing up in my account.
This is a great perk for Atmos Summit cardholders. My husband and I each currently hold the card, so we had two, Global 25k Companion Awards between the two of us.
Here’s how I applied both awards to save points for a trip to Europe.

This is a flight I booked from Dallas to Amsterdam. This is for one adult, one kid. Note that when you are trying to use the Companion Fare Award, you must search for two people.
I booked two tickets in one Atmos account, and the remaining three tickets in the other person’s Atmos account. Points were distributed just so, so it worked out well. (We’re all on the same flight.)

This is for our return flight home, for one adult and one kid. Note that taxes out of Europe are generally always higher.
For each flight leg, I’m paying only 2,500 points for one of our kids thanks to the Global Companion Award. As someone who travels as a family of 5, this is so helfpul!
You will need to use your Summit card when booking the award flight, and paying for flight taxes.
Global Getaways
If you have some flexibility in your schedule, and can be a bit more spontaneous with your travels – do take note of Global Getaways.
Each month, there are limited-time travel offers to international destinations. You can get up to 50% off award travel. The discounted award flights are only available for a few days each month, typically launching on the first Wednesday during Atmos Members Day.
Atmos Communities
Atmos Communities is a new award program that allows you to earn points, based on how you travel. Their are six communities, each with its own focus:

In Sum
Don’t sleep on booking award flights through Alaska and Hawaiian, with Atmos Rewards points. Low award pricing + low taxes = an airline program that’s quickly becoming a favorite for me!
