Credit card welcome bonus offers are the fastest and easiest way to earn a good chunk of points from your regular, everyday spend. Strategic signups, especially when life happens, can be a great time to make sure you have a new card in hand before paying for that unexpected bill or purchase. Even on the regular, I aim to always be working on a signup bonus. If not, you’ll find me using one or both of my favorite daily drivers – Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card.
*New Chase Sapphire Card Offers*
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is a great card to start with in award travel, because for the $95 annual fee you get a good package of perks and benefits. There’s a new offer for 75,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months from account opening, with an annual fee of $95. This one is a keeper for me, because you do need a Sapphire product to transfer points to airline and hotel travel partners. My favorite way to use my Chase points is to transfer them to World of Hyatt to book $0 stays!
You can read all about this great card and offer here.
Chase Sapphire Reserve® – Earn 100,000 bonus points + $500 Chase Travel℠ promo credit after spending $5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months. Annual fee is $795. It’s an additional $195 for each authorized user.
Perks & benefits include, but not limited to:
There are more lifestyle and experience credits. For the first year, because you get a huge signup bonus the increased annual fee can make sense. But going forward you’ll need to do the math to see if it makes sense for you to keep, and if you can make use of the credits to get the full value from the card.
Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ – This is a brand new addition to Chase’s line up of business cards. Earn 200,000 bonus points after spending $30,000 in the first 6 months. The annual fee is $795.
Note: This is a high minimum spend and won’t make sense for everyone. If you have a business that can meet the spend, or increased expenses coming up, then this card could be a great option for you.
Perks & benefits include, but not limited to:
There are multiple business and lifestyle credits. This card won’t make sense for everyone to keep past the first year, especially with the high annual fee. Again, you’ll need to do the math to see if it makes sense for you and your lifestyle.
The most important thing to note is that eligibility requirements for personal Sapphire products has now changed. It’s not just about 5/24 status or the 48-month rule anymore. It includes vague lifetime language; this is from Chase’s website regarding the refreshed Chase Sapphire Reserve:
“This credit card is unavailable to you if you currently have one open. The new cardmember bonus may not be available to you if you currently have any other personal Sapphire cards open, previously held this card or received a new cardmember bonus for this card. We may also consider the number of cards you have opened and closed, as well as other factors in determining your bonus eligibility.”
Other Chase Bank Offers
The Aeroplan Card – Earn 75,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months. The annual fee is $95. This is a great card option to earn Aeroplan miles – the loyalty program of Air Canada.
Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card – Earn 5 Free Nights (each valued up to 50,000 points) after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months. These certificates can be topped off with up to 15,000 additional Chase points, making these worth up to 65,000 points each. Sometimes there are transfer bonuses from Chase to Marriott which would help stretch your points further. Certain hotels have resort fees.
Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card – Earn 60,000 Bonus Points + 1 Free Night Award after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months.
IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card – Earn 120,000 Bonus Points after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months.
IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card – Earn 5 Free Nights after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months. These certificates are worth 60,000 points each and can’t be topped off with additional Chase points. The annual fee is $99, Offer ends 7/23/2025.
The New United Quest℠ Card – Earn 100,000 bonus miles + 3,000 Premier qualifying points (PQP) after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months. Annual fee is $350.
Capital One Card Offers
Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is my other go-to. (We actually split our automated expenses between these two cards.) It has premium-level benefits like unlimited lounge access to three different lounge programs (Capital One, Priority Pass, & Plaza Premium), $300 annual travel credit, 10k-mile anniversary bonus, no foreign transaction fees, and built-in travel protections – just to name a few. The offer is currently the standard offer for 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months. One of my favorite ways to use these miles is to cover car rental expenses, train tickets (as applicable), and/or hotel stays for when I’m not staying at a Hyatt property (because there are none available in that city!).
Update: Starting February 1, 2026, Capital One Lounge and Landing and Priority Pass access will change for cardholder guests and authorized users, and they will not be able to access lounges without paying an annual lounge access fee. You can read it all here – unfortunately, this hits families the hardest!
Another option to consider: Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
This card can be a great “starter” card too, and a good stepping stone into the Capital One family of cards. The current offer is for 75k miles after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months. Not to mention, it has a lower annual fee ($95). One great thing about Capital One cards – it’s a straightforward 2x back on all purchases!
This card also comes with (up to) $120 Global Entry (which includes TSA PreCheck).
And yes, unlike the Chase Sapphire® family of cards, you can hold both Capital One Venture cards! Do keep in mind that you can only receive the welcome bonus on each card, every 48 months. As of January 1, 2025, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card no longer offers two free lounge visits per year; you can access Capital One lounges for a fee of $45/person.
Capital One Spark Cash – Earn $1,500 cash back once you spend $15,000 in the first 3 months from account opening. If you hold another Venture Miles – earning credit card like Venture Rewards or Venture X, you can convert the cash back to 150k miles! Yes this minimum spend is high – but note, that if you have the Venture X, you can convert that $1,500. The annual fee is $0 for the first year, then $95. While this is a business card, this is one of the Capital One business cards that will count dowards your 5/24 status.
Chase Ink Business Cards
The Ink Business suite of cards is honestly my favorite when it comes to business cards, simple because two cards don’t even have annual fees! Business cards don’t count towards your 5/24 status, but remember, you do need to be under (so at 4/24 or less) in order to get approved for one. And don’t forget, you can refer a spouse or partner, or any loved one, and earn referral points on top of the card’s bonus offer. Here are the best options:
Yes, the first two are marketed as cash back cards. But you can combine points earned with other cards that earn Ultimate Rewards (for example, the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve®).
American Airlines Co-Branded Card Offers
*These are non-affiliate offers. Just a reminder that the best offers will always be shared even if I don’t earn a commission.*
We know that American Airlines miles are harder to earn, with American Airlines co-branded credit cards being the best, and easiest way to earn a large chunk of AAdvantage miles.
Remember, co-branded airline or hotel cards will earn only airline miles or hotel points, so those miles/points will stay with the respective airline or hotel loyalty program.
American Express
The Platinum Card® from American Express – You could be eligible for as high as 175,000 Membership Rewards Points after spending $8,000 in eligible purchases in the first 6 months. Welcome offers vary and you may not be eligible for an offer. Apply to know if you’re approved, and find out your exact welcome offer amount – all with no credit score impact. Annual fee is $695.
American Express® Gold Card – You may be eligible for as high as 100,000 Membership Rewards Points after you spend $6,000 in the first 6 months. Annual fee is $325.
